Cheat Your Way to a Slimmer Waist

A simple yet effective way to give the illusion that your waist is much more slim than it really is, is to focus on working out your lower back. To build and get that v-shaped waist to shoulders look, the best exercise is the bent over barbell row. The reason why this move is superior to the one arm bent over row or incline row is because it engages and works the outer lats and scapula.

It also loads more weight to your spine and as a result you are forced to compensate the curve in your spine by pulling up and squeezing more at the top of the movement. Be careful not to round out your spine like a cat, if so you have too much weight on the bar.
